Spring arrived in full form on April 24th for the 38th edition of the Vancouver Sun Run, Presented by Subway. After a two year hiatus due to the pandemic, 23,364 enthusiastic participants celebrated health, fitness and community spirit throughout the iconic 10 kilometre race route.
The Vancouver Sun Run is Canada’s largest 10K road race and the 3rd largest timed 10K in North America. “It was created to get people to change their lifestyles and we love the fact we have elite athletes and walkers doing 10K for the first time” said Race Director Tim Hopkins, “we don’t target the fastest runners, it’s about creating positive lifestyle changes.”
Subway Canada joined the Vancouver Sun Run in 2022 as the new Presenting Partner – and it was spectacular! Subway worked closely with UNITE Partnerships and Sun Run organizers to bring their newly minted partnership to life – leveraging their mission to encourage healthier lifestyle choices and engaging team members from across the Province.

“UNITE Partnerships has proudly been working closely with the Sun Run for 10+years and it felt incredible to be back in person to experience the live event” says Morgaine Jennings, Senior Manager at UNITE Partnerships Inc. “Nothing compares to the joy and energy of thousands of people coming together to run this iconic course, cheer on their friends and family, and be a part of such a signature community event. It’s what fuels our passion”.

Sun Run Official Partners included Shaw, Running Room, Pacific Blue Cross, OASIS, Herbaland, HelloFresh, Kal Tire, Club16, and Michelob ULTRA. Event Sponsors were Purolator, Yaletown BIA, and Skullcandy. All Sun Run sponsors were onsite during the Sun Run Fair and post-race celebration at BC Place Stadium – with a variety of activations, games, awards, music, and giveaways for thousands of attendees.
Special Mentions:
Shaw Communications has been supporting Sun Run for nearly 20 years, returning in 2022 as the entitlement partner of the Shaw Team Division and the Shaw Mini Sun Run (2.5k) which drew over 1,000 mini sun runners this year.
OASIS signed on as a multi-year entitlement partner for the OASIS Youth Team Challenge to encourage physical activity in youth.
Pacific Blue Cross welcomed thousands of walkers to the “Walk with Pacific Blue Cross” category celebrating those who preferred to complete their 10k at their own pace.
Congratulations to all of the event organizers, sponsors, and participants on another successful Vancouver Sun Run. See you again at the 39th edition of the event, scheduled for April 16th 2023!
